Who are we?
The Delaware Adventure Zone for Learning (DAZL) Study Support Centre, began life as a pilot centre for >> PfS in September 2004. A year later we put in a funding bid to the DfES for a full-time centre. It was approved and the centre began full-time on 1st April 2006. DAZL now operates from a permanent building within the Delaware Outdoor Education Centre grounds at Gunnislake in East Cornwall and is part of Cornwall Outdoors.
What do we do?
Put simply, we give children:

How does it work?
The DAZL centre provides the perfect environment for children to explore their potential through activities such as: team building, problem solving, archery, orienteering, climbing, environmental work, moorland walks & kayaking. Although these are all fun activities, they’re always linked to academic work back in class. We concentrate always on Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. Building core skills in young children motivates them and raises their self-esteem.
DAZL – An adventure in learning
Show children an amazing, exciting world and they’re inspired for life. Through outdoor activities, at whatever level, we can all learn and develop. The unique approach that DAZL has adopted is to bring into the sports curriculum a real educational focus, extracted from the activities themselves. For example: how do you describe the beauty of the moors we walk on? Or, how do we work out average scores from the archery tournament we’ve just played? Why is it that, only through team-work, can we achieve success with our peers?
It’s a method that children respond to time and again. And it is proven to raise standards.
