Delaware Adventure Zone for Learning

The Delaware Adventure Zone for Learning (DAZL) Study Support Centre, began running a pilot centre for PfS in September 2004. A year later we put in a bid to the DfES for funding for a full-time centre. Christmas 2005 we heard that the bid had been successful and the centre began full-time on 1st April 2006. DAZL now operates from its' own permanent building within the the Delaware Outdoor Education Centre grounds at Gunnislake in East Cornwall and is part of Cornwall Outdoors.

DAZL Outdoor Study Support

DAZL is the first PfS Study Support Centre in the country, to be based at an Outdoor Centre. Our 'Sporting Hero' is Pete Goss, the Cornish sailor. The centre is staffed with a full-time, fully qualified teacher and as from 1st August 2006 a full-time Professional Assistant who is also a Senior Instructor for outdoor, adventurous activities. Yr.10 and Yr.11 students from Callington College also come along to our sessions to act as Peer Tutors.

DAZL Activities

The centre provides the perfect opportunity for children to explore their potential through activities such as: Team Building/Problem Solving, Archery, Orienteering, Climbing, Environmental work, Moorland walks & Canoeing or Kayaking. These activities are each linked to Literacy, Numeracy and ICT and are used to motivate and raise self-esteem. Team Building
